Delivery has become more important than ever for restaurants and if you’re considering signing your restaurant up for DoorDash, then you’re at the right place. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the steps to registering your restaurant on the platform, and an overview of the plans available to help you choose the right one for your restaurant.

The pandemic was a big player in accelerating online food delivery and shaping customers’ dining and ordering habits. In fact, food delivery and online ordering apps topped the charts of the most downloaded app category in recent years and DoorDash in particular generated 43 million downloads and made it as one of the top 3 most downloaded food & drink apps of 2021. But what if you’ve already signed up for another delivery service out there? Well, with delivery being here to stay, listing your restaurant on a third-party platform is a convenient way for your restaurant to increase reach and sales. You can find out more about why your restaurant should be on more than one food delivery platform here.

This blog covers the steps to sign up for Doordash:

  1. Go to the DoorDash website and click “Become a Partner”
  2. Fill out your restaurant's primary information
  3. Login to your DoorDash account to upload your menu and setup how your restaurant will be receiving orders

Once you’re redirected to the DoorDash for Merchants website, fill out your business name, address and your personal contact details, select your business type and hit the “Get started” button. Make sure the email address and mobile number are still active or can be contacted.

Login to your DoorDash account to upload your menu and setup how your restaurant will be receiving orders (email, fax, tablet or point of sale integration)

After submitting your primary details, you’ll be redirected to sign up for a DoorDash account. There, you’ll have to fill up your name, contact information and come up with a password for your account. Once you’re done, proceed to login.

In your account, you’ll be able to upload your menu and set up how your restaurant will be receiving DoorDash orders. It can be through email, fax, tablet or a POS integration. The signup process will usually take around 3-5 business days and an onboarding specialist will get in touch with the instructions on how to begin receiving your orders on DoorDash.

Pricing & Fees

There are a couple of DoorDash plans that you can choose from depending on your business’ needs. Restaurants on DoorDash typically pay a 30% commission fee for delivery orders or 15% for pickup orders that you get from the DoorDash app. Alternatively, you could set up a direct, commission-free online ordering on your website with Storefront. That way, you only have to pay a credit card processing fee (1.75% + AU$0.30) and a delivery fee of AU$5.50 per order to have your order delivered by a DoorDash delivery partner.

On the other hand, if you have your own team of in-house delivery staff or prefer to own the delivery experience, you’ll be charged a 12% commission fee (or 10% if you enable the DashPass) for each order. If you’re wondering how you should decide between third party delivery and in-house delivery, we’ve done a comparison of the pros and cons of both methods here that may help answer your questions.

DoorDash also offers an a la carte delivery service with DoorDash Drive for a flat delivery fee. How it works is that when an order is placed on your website or app, DoorDash will connect you with a nearby delivery partner to fulfil your order.

The good news is, DoorDash does not charge an activation fee or any hidden fees for new restaurants registering on the platform. But do note that certain fees may be applicable if you opt for additional products or services such as the DoorDash Tablet ($6 per week) or any promotion fees for in-app marketing promotions you choose to participate in.

And that’s how you sign up for your restaurant on DoorDash! Once you’ve successfully registered your restaurant with DoorDash (or most other third-party apps), you can use the Order Manager within Hubster to manage all orders in just one tablet. If you’re not yet a Hubster partner, fill out the form below to get started with Hubster!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
